In recent years, economic and environmental considerations have increased the need to safely extend the service life of energy conversion and transportation systems beyond their original design life and provided the impetus to design new systems/components with fatigue lifetimes significantly greater than 10~7. Thus, the fatigue behavior of structural materials in the very high cycle regime of 10~9 – 10~(10) cycles has become an important and active subject of research. In this paper, a review of the current studies in this area performed by many researchers was attempted in order to provide a certain milestone in the history of the research on fatigue behavior of the metallic materials in the very high cycle regime.
