Efficient ICF-based Documentation and Assessment Using Fuzzy Judgements and Combination of Terms

The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) is a well-thought-out but highly complex classification consisting of 1,400 items. Due to its size and complexity, using the ICF is hardly feasible in practice. We suggest an approach which allows for efficient documentation and measurement of change while still maintaining compatibility to the ICF. It uses modern documentation techniques (combination of terms, mnemonic codes) instead of a classification, and techniques of fuzzy mathematics allowing to model also medical concepts which can not be measured exactly, e.g. pain or participation.
