In this study,we investigated the selectively inhibitor effects of pulsed Nd:YAG laser irradiation on collagen production of cultured fibroblasts of hypertrophic scar(HS). Cultured fibroblasts derived from HS and normal human skin were irradiated with a pulsed Nd:YAG laser(wavelength 1064nm, pulse width 150mus) at various energy density levels (500J/cm~2, 1000J/cm~2,1500J/ cm~2 and 2000J/cm~2). At 24 hours after laser irradiation, collagen production of fibroblasts was measured by the incorporation of [~3H]proline. The expression of proa 1(I) procollagen mRNA was investigated by blot hybridization techniques. In conclusion,our results indicate that pulsed Nd: YAG laser at energy density of 1000J/cm~2 can selectively suppress collagen synthesis of cultured fibroblasts in HS.
