Investigation of impact behavior of concrete elements is significant for collapse analysis of concrete structures. In this study the impact test systems, including the test set-up and the data acquisition, in natural science and engineering field were reviewed. To study the face-to-face central impact between concrete blocks, a pendulum test set-up and a drop weight test set-up were developed. A suspension steel framework was installed at the top of both test set-ups, ensuring the blocks to move in transverse and longitudinal direction freely. Two cables outside surrounded by bushes were applied in the pendulum test set-up, helping to achieve the face-to-face central impact properly. Two high-frequency acceleration transducers were installed on steel plates embedded at the center point of opposite side of the impact surface for each concrete block, measuring the acceleration varying with time in the impact direction. The impact force was obtained according to Newton's second law method. The reliability and the stability of test systems were verified by test results.
