In this paper a three-dimensional (3D) numerical magnetic field analysis of universal motor (UM) is treated. For this purpose the software package OPERA Vector Fields was used. The field computation for four different loads and for each load a three different rotor positions was made. A mathematical procedure for calculation the electromechanical characteristics which basis on post processing of the results of numerical magnetic field calculation is described. Comparison between measured and calculated performance curves is presented.
