LVRed algorithm was proposed for active queue management (AQM) in TCP networks, which based on the loss ratio Random Early Detection (LRED) and the rate-base control mechanism (VRC). It can effectively regulate the queue length with small variation and achieve high utilization with small packet loss. In this paper the stability of the LVRed algorithm based on a linearized TCP model with time delay was analyzed and a design guideline for parameter setting to make the overall system stable was provided. The faster response time,the better robustness of the proposed LVRed as was shown compared with the drop-tail, RED, PI and VRC through extensive ns-2 simulations.
