Mountain people, community and common goals: Partnerships in mountains

摘要

This paper describes both global and local partnerships created in service of mountainplaces and communities. It covers mountain initiatives created as a result of the UNConference on Environment and Development (UNCED, 1992 Earth Summit) and theUN World Summit on Sustainable Development (UNWSSD, 2002). The paper alsocovers local projects from the Bow Valley region of Alberta, Canada. Each local projectis characterized by a partnership, sometimes between unlikely groups. The projectsdescribed address issues related to municipal development, parks and protected areas,and economic development.
