The release and rejuvenation of the natural flora and fauna onlowland heaths and commons

This presentation is largely pictorial and shows the release of the natural fauna and flora on those mreas threatened by the aggressive growth of a range of species which includes, for example, birch, briar, bracken, honeysuckle, alder, pine, and rosebay willowherb. The aim is to show how this release can be accomplished using an automatic, electrically controlled, non-drip, weedwiper. Designed not to allow active material to drip onto the valuable understory species. As the competitive scrub gradually collapses this releases the understory, often heather, which can then develop with the nutrition, light and water previously taken by the aggressive scrub growth. When the scrub finally collapses the desired species will continue to rejuvenate.
