In the process of nanometer grade ultraprecision ice dish polishing of mental pieces surface, the value of surface roughness is reduced with nanometer grade yardstick. In the range of this yardstick, the surface of mental pieces and the crystal structure on the interface, the surface nature will change, which involve the mechanics behavior about the structure changes of nonuniform system, energy transforming and physical chemistry course of mental materials. In order to probe into the microcosmic process mechanism, the paper has theory analysis and experiment studying on the surface atomic structure and energy function of mental pieces in the process of ice dish polishing from the level of atom and m61ecule. This paper regards horniness alloy 45 Steel of metal material as the target, analyses the structure of 45 Steel pieces and sets up the energy function equation of the surface atom in the process of ice dish polishing from the viewpoint of energy, analyses and calculates the atomic binding energy, the polishing mechanical energy, the surface energy of 45 Steel pieces and all kinds of defection energy in the real crystals, for example, the lattice distortion, dislocation and crystal boundary. We have measured the quality of roughness peaks of the polished 45 Steel pieces surface, have carefully analyzed the contact and function of all kinds of energy in the process of ice dish polishing, have discussed the nanometer grade ultraprecision polishing process mechanism of mental materials surface, then have got the result that the ice dish polishing process of mental materials is that the high energy mental atoms of the surface are removed with the help of polishing mechanical energy.
