China: New Methanol Capacity, New Applications, New Technology, New Methanol World Order

Few days go by when we do not read something in the newspapers about China, be it about the economy, politics, social change, the environment or sport. Over the last 30 years China has moved from an isolated and little discussed country on to the centre of the world stage. In this paper we will see China's position in the world methanol industry is also going through remarkable change. China is rapidly becoming the global centre for methanol capacity growth and is already the largest producer and consumer of methanol. It is also proving to be an early adopter of new production technology and applications for methanol and methanol derivatives.
