Reliability Modeling of Technical Objects in the Airport Security Checkpoint

The paper presents a simulation model that proposes to supplement the approach currently used in structure planning of a security control system. The current solutions presented in scientific works focus only on the system structure without taking into account the disturbances caused by failures of technical objects. By using the Monte-Carlo simulation, a method for estimating the resilience of a security control system to technical facilities damage under varying load conditions was proposed. The article presents various configurations of security control lanes and their reliability structures. Next, the simulation model was described and its advantages were demonstrated. The model was validated for the selected structure of the security control system. The validation was carried out for 5 parallel security control lanes, equipped with Explosive Detection System EDS and Explosive Trace Detection ETD devices. The paper analyzes the impact of ETD failures on the waiting time of passengers in the system. Sensitivity analysis has been performed.
