The following article gives a detailed description of the advantages of the ZF transmission kit system for vehicles with front-wheel drive layout. With this technological approach, the distance to the 8-speed automatic transmission that currently dominates the standard transmission sector can be kept to a minimum for OEMs. It is to be expected that the new 9-speed automatic transmission will enhance the competition for the most attractive transmission concept for front-wheel drive vehicles - in comparison to wet and dry dual clutch and continuously variable transmissions (CVT).
