A proactive approach for achieving sustainable, environmental stewardship starts with establishing, monitoring and minimizing proper environmental indicators ("Environmental Events" and "Compliance Program Deficiencies" rather than only "Agency Reportable" events). This change to monitoring "Environmental Events" coupled with establishing Environmental Operating Limits leads to continuous improvement in environmental performance.
