Pre-explosive luminescence has been used to visualize the nascence and propagation of a chain reaction over the sample. Results of investigations on nascence and propagation of pre-explosive luminescence in silver azide using streak-camera (space resolution 50 μm, time resolution ~ 1 ns) are as follows: under homogeneity initiation by a laser pulse and electron accelerator pulse luminescence originates in discrete centers and then propagates over a sample. From the data obtained authors hypothesized the following: a) discrete center nature of nascence of the reaction considered is provided by stochastic nature of initiation process and is not associated with unsoundness of a sample; b) propagation of the reaction over the sample is provided by diffusion of electrons.
