Special Effect Pigments for Paint Application

Today, special effect pigments play an important role in colouring industries [1]. These pigments with their lustre and interference effects are central to the generation of many new and unique effects when used in paints for automotive and industrial applications, printing inks, plastics and cosmetic formulations. The unique pearl lustre, iridescent, crystal-like, sparkling, or colour flop effects are produced by light reflection, interference and in some cases also absorption. Special effect pigments enhance the appearance created by other colorants. Paint applications with these pigments fulfil the highest aesthetic requirements. Today, many surfaces are painted with them especially in cases when the product should reflect a touch of luxury and artistic style.
