Sustainability as an aspect in the development of decorative wooden components Eucalyptus FSC - real wood trim in the BMW i3

The development process for the real-wood decorative elements in the BMW i3 was conducted under the special premises of 'sustainability' and 'making sustainability visible'. From selection of the veneer to FSC certification and surface treatment new avenues had to be explored, numerous assessments made and even more decisions arrived at. The result is well worth looking at: more naturalness, a more authentic impression of wood and greater sustainability while retaining a high level of durability, quality and functional properties.
