摘要

A new white pigment made out of amorphous nanostructured aluminum phosphate particles is currently being produced in developmental amounts by a proprietary process jointly developed by the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp) and Bunge. The unique behavior of these particles is due to their core-and-shell structure, which is created during the fabrication process and evolves intohollow particles. According to extensive testing done in well-established laboratories, the opacification ability of this non-crystalline aluminum phosphate allows titanium dioxide replacement as high as 50% in high-quality water-based paints while the negligible light absorption throughout the visible spectrum contributes to improved whiteness and decreased yellowness in the absence of any undesirable photo- oxidative catalytic activity.
