Planning a thermally comfortable outdoor environment in an building cluster requires reliable and fast prediction of the distribution of thermal parameters in the space. This research has developed a numerical model to predict the dynamic thermal environment in residential building clusters. The model includes a CFD wind model and an energy budget model. It can simultaneously take into account the dynamic airflow in air space and unsteady heat transfer in ground or building enclosures. This paper demonstrates the numerical model's capacity by applying the model to a real building cluster. The result shows that it provides relatively fast and reliable information for the overall area under consideration. The model is useful in helping to planning a residential district with pleasant outdoor thermal environment.
