Integrated farming of oilseed rape in a long-term economic view

Integrated farming aims to enhance self-regulating processes in agricultural crop stands for the purpose of minimising pesticide input. Measures of integrated farming, such as augmentation of antagonists or mechanical weed control, can be implementedin a single crop or in a complete rotation. The latter is more favourable, since integrated farming comprises many indirect and preventive measures, which have to conjoin in a long ran and in a system view. Within the last few decades, field-scale farming system experiments were set up to develop and to study integrated crop rotations under practical conditions. One of these, the INTEX experiment, ran from 1990 to 2002 in the district of Gottingen, Germany. Here, results of the farm economic evaluationsare presented.
