Innovative Partnerships for Offshore Wind Development

While northern Europe is well versed in the development and implementation of offshore wind power technology, offshore wind power has not yet entered the U.S. energy mix. In order to stimulate the development of offshore wind facilities and create a climate of acceptance in the United States, new and innovative partnerships must be established. Collaborations between industry, utilities, government and academic researchers can provide a forum bringing each sector's unique perspective and understanding to the table. Together, these partnerships can develop a workable plan of action for the economically and environmentally sound energy technology that is 'offshore wind power' while broadening the understanding of all parties and the general population along the way.
