Fundamental mode operation of the orthogonal fluxgate (OFG) proposed in [1] allows increasing sensitivity and reduces fluxgate's offset and noise. Using thin Metglas ribbon can further improve sensitivity and linearity of the input-output characteristic, compared with one constructed using amorphous wire. In this paper we present performance of an orthogonal fluxgate magnetometer constructed by using a thin Metglas 2714A ribbon.
