The perpendicular recording media are thermally stable in high recording density, but are relatively unstable in low recording density, as known well. We have already reported theoretical thermal decay model [1] of magnetization for perpendicular recording system. Some analysis results of waveform and noise changes by thermal decay were also reported [2,3]. We tried to build thermal decay model of waveform and noise for perpendicular recording media based on theoretical and practical approach, in order to estimate BER degradation using channel simulation.
