摘要

The highest recording densities reported for particulate media to date have been for metal magnetic particle media with a recording density in excess of 3Gbits/inch{sup}2[1]. In the current paper, we report the results of tests using barium-ferrite magnetic particles that, while difficult to disperse uniformly, offer the advantages of high coercivity, small particle size, and the chemical stability common to oxide compounds [2]. We also report on the feasibility of high-density flexible magnetic disc systems employing such media and a GMR head.
