Particulate magnetic recording media require very fine particles, uniform dispersion of the particles and an extremely thin magnetic layer to increase the recording density [1]. New tape media named Nanocubic have been developed using well-dispersed fine barium ferrite particles. This paper reports the experimental results of the developed barium ferrite tape, which shows the feasibility of 7Gbits/inch{sup}2 recording density.
