Co{sub}2Z-type planar hexa-ferrite (Ba{sub}3Co{sub}2Fe{sub}24O{sub}41) is a good candidate for multilayer chip inductors (MLCIs), mini-antenna, and electromagnetic interface (EMI) devices in the GHz range because of its high initial permeability and resonance frequency that are higher than other types of hexa-ferrite. The crystal structure of Z-type hexa-ferrite is a mixture of M type (BaFe{sub}12O{sub}19) and Y-type (Ba{sub}2Co{sub}2Fe{sub}12O{sub}22) hexa-ferrite. High energy is required to form a single phase Z-type hexa-ferrite due to its high activation energy. Low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) processing of Z-type hexa-ferrite is an issue to address. In this paper, we report properties of Z-type hexa-ferrite (Ba{sub}3CO{sub}(2-x) Zn{sub}xFe{sub}24O{sub}41, 0≤x≤2) particles prepared by a combination of high energetic shake-milling and a well-known double-sintering process.
