COMPARISON OF ACOUSTICAL CHARACTERISATION OF THE STAGE AND THE REHEARSAL ROOM OF THE NICCOLO PAGANINI THEATRE

The "Niccolo Paganini" theatre has a typical shoe-box shape and it was built after the restoration of a sugar refinery in Parma. The building has a rehearsal room with a rectangular shape and specific acoustical interventions. The reverberation time and other acoustical parameters, according with the Standard ISO/CD 3382-1, were obtained from impulse response measurements by using an exponential sweep signal. The source and the microphone were positioned in some points of the stage and the rehearsal room corresponding to the main instrumental sections of the orchestra. The measurements include support indexes evaluations. In order to obtain reliable results particular attention to the metrological aspects was pointed out. This paper reports the more significant measurements obtained in the two rooms and a critical comparison of the results.
