The trend in the multiphase fluid dynamics to resolve problems with boiling at solid surfaces requires detailed knowledge of the internal characteristics of flow boiling. Using ad hoc formulation with fitting constants for few specific experiments is the wrong way. This paper presents the state of the art of the knowledge for mathematical description of the internal characteristics of water flow boiling at heated surfaces like: bubble departure diameter, active nucleation sites for all pressures, bubble departure frequencies, influence of the sub cooling, additional sources of turbulence due to boiling etc.
