摘要

In 2015 Tubacex decided to modernize the existing 60 t AOD converter at Aceralava Meltshop for the production of 95.000 tpy of special stainless steel grades, and more precisely austenitic, ferritic, duplex, super duplex and Ni-alloys. The main targets of the modernization were: increase of metallurgy efficiency, reduction of refractory consumption and reduction of process gas consumption. The modernization was realized in two steps: the first step was the design and supply of new vessel with optimized geometry. A vibration study, utilizing as pre-processor a CFD model simulating the dynamic flow during AOD process, was performed to check the suitability of the existing gear unit. The second step was completed with the installation of a new gas control station for individual shroud flow control. The paper discusses the influence of vessel geometry on process parameters, optimized by CFD approach and the increased efficiency obtained by individual shroud flow control. First operational results are presented as well.
