Transient EPR as well as several methods from the wide arsenal of pulsed EPR multi-frequency and multiple resonance techniques are employed to follow the primary processes of solar to electric energy conversion in the reaction centers of photosynthesis in real time, at high spectral resolution, in frozen solution and even under native physiological conditions. General time resolution constraints limit EPR detection of laser flash induced paramagnetic intermediates to the time range longer than approx 10~(-8)s.
