This paper introduced a high temperature resistance robot marking machine and optical character recognition system applied in metallurgical field. Billet or slab ID input manually or transferred by upper level will be marked by the robot marking machine and automatically recognized by RAMON OCR system. The system has been approved by many online marking applications under circumstances with high temperatures up to 800 degrees celcius. Its' overspray speed can reach 40 characters per minutes. It can also realize billet or slab quality traceable management. Both functions not only reduce labor cost, but also improve products' quality management level.
