Precise control over phosphorous levels in finished steel products ensures high profit margins, flexibility in downstream processing, and meeting delivery schedules. While phosphorus is sometimes added intentionally for strength, machinability and corrosion resistance, it is generally undesirable in steel. Low phosphorus grades are required in applications where high ductility is required, including automotive exteriors, pipelines and thin sheets.
