Inclusions not only deteriorate the mechanical properties like fatigue and fracture strength of the final product but also disrupt steel making process by nozzle clogging and build-up. In recent years, with the growing demands for high quality materials, the acceptance criterion for steel cleanliness has evolved in a significant way. Alumina inclusions are not only detrimental to the quality of final steel product, but also undesirable for continuous casting due to the clogging of the submerged entry nozzle[l], [2], Thus, one of the essential tasks in the steelmaking process is to control amount, composition, size and morphology of non-metallic inclusions. Such inclusions begin to agglomerate and lead to clogging of nozzles and slide-gates during casting operations[3].
