A boron-bearing magnetite concentrate is obtained from the paigeite ore by gravity-magnetic separation. Effectively obtaining boron and iron from boron-bearing magnetite concentrates by traditional technology is difficult. In this study, a novel method was proposed for boron and iron recovery from a boron-bearing magnetite concentrate. Reduction roasting, which is the key procedure, was investigated. The effects of temperature, time, and sodium carbonate dosage on reduction roasting were studied. Experimental results showed that the metallization degree reached 91.61% under optimum conditions. Approximately 95.58% recycled Fe was incorporated into a metallic iron powder containing 92.81%Fe from a boron-bearing magnetite concentrate that was reduction roasted by low-intensity magnetic separation. The obtained boron-rich tailing had 14.11% B_2O_3 with a recovery of 89.59%. The extraction efficiency of boron in the boron-rich tailing was 80.76% when cooled by water quenching. The metallic iron powder and boron-rich tailing could be used as high-quality raw materials for steelmaking and boron chemical industry, respectively.
