The packed bed of COREX melter gasifier mainly occurs the reduction reaction between iron ore and reduction gas. In this paper, the raw material characteristics are investigated through the chemical and micro analysis. Furthermore, this paper experimentally studies the influence of reduction temperature, composition of reduction gas, and reduction time on high-temperature iron reduction, as well as the development of direct and indirect reduction. From 800°C to 1200°C, the direct reduction degree increases from 4.17 to 92.18, when the reduction temperature is between 900°C and 1100°C, it radically changes; As composition of H_2 increases from 5% to 25%, it increases from 74.29 to 80.96; Increase of reduction time has no effect.
