A newly developed high efficiency propeller, designated the NBS (New Blade Section) propeller was introduced. Owing to its special wing section, the superior cavitation performance and the smaller optimum diameter compared with a conventional propeller can be obtained without adversely affecting on the propulsive efficiency. These two favorable features bring many advantages described in this paper. During the last 6 years over one hundred NBS propellers have been installed on a range of ship types and no claims from users or shipyards have ever received.
