This work presents a novel method of designing a Single Modular Test Board (SMTB) for compliance testing of high speed I/O that support several physical interfaces. This innovative approach significantly reduces the overhead associated with designing and testing multiple PCBs, reduces the overall cost associated with Post Silicon compliance testing, and significantly simplifies the validation logistics. The method was successfully implemented for testing 25 Gb serial I/O multilane systems of Ethernet switch products, supporting: 100GBaseKR4, 100GBaseCR4, 100Gb CAUI-4, KR4, CR4, XAUI, XLAUI, XLPPI, SFI, KX4, and KX protocols as well as PCIe Gen, 1,2,3.
