Multicolor (MWIR/LWIR) focal plane arrays are being developed for the Third Generation IR Sensors. These sensors need to be low cost and can be used for a variety of Military, Homeland Security and commercial applications. As the IRFPA technology matures for large format arrays, these sensors will find a lot of applications that cannot be met with IR microbolometers and QWIP focal plane arrays.
