An investigation on static modulus of elasticity of an M20 grade design mix of concrete with addition of four different percentages of steel fibre has been reported. The mix proportion 1:1.40:3.30, (w/c = 0.44) for M20 grade of concrete has been considered as reference mix. An addition of superplasticizer for increasing the workability of the concrete mix and reducing the ball effect of fibre has been chosen. Steel fibre of straight round type having 0.5 mm diameter and 25.4 mm length with four different percentages 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75% and 1.00% by volume of the concrete has been adopted. All together 30 specimens were cast, cured normally for 28 days and then tested to failure. The static modulus of elasticity of the concrete was determined using standard cylinder specimens of size 150 mm diameter and 300 mm height. Test results show that the static modulus of elasticity obtained for fibre reinforced concrete increases up to 23% as compared to conventional concrete. The better bond in the fibre added concrete mix produces increase strength and ductility.
