CHALLENGES IN THE USABILITY EVALUATION OF AGRICULTURAL MOBILE MACHINERY

摘要

Agricultural work will change when converting to Precision Agriculture. More site specific information about the crop and the field is needed and supplied. The functionality and the degree of automation in the machinery increase. New control system for this machinery needs to be developed. To prevent the human operator from becoming overloaded with information, adequate forethought has to be given during system development to what information the system will display and what information it will withhold. The interaction between the human and the machine should be evaluated to confirm the suitability of the predicted interactions. This paper introduces the concept of situation awareness as a possible means of a usability evaluation methodology of agricultural mobile machinery control system on the base of literature and experimental research.
