A variety of methods exist to determine PCB's, Phenols, PAH's and Pesticides in water samples. Extraction methods include Liquid/Liquid Extraction, Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) and more recently Solid Phase Micro-Extraction. To further complicate matters, an even wider variety of analytical instrumentation is available for the detection of the analytes extracted. Different SPE procedures optimized for each of the classes of compounds are time-consuming and expensive. An alternative SPE method (based on USEPA method 525.2) to extract each of the classes of compounds simultaneously was developed. The use of Large Volume Injector (LVI) allows larger volumeof extract to be injected the GC-MS to operate in the full scan mode allowing the simultaneous analysis of PCB's, Phenols, PAH's and Pesticides.
