摘要

The effect of notch widths on notch closure in epoxy resin plates with an embedded linear shape memory alloy (SMA) wire, which is an effective actuator in smart structure members, heated by supplying electric current is investigated on the basis of deformation of the surface of the plates, which is obtained using a digital image correlation technique. Results show that the function of notch closure increases with increase of notch width. This implies that the length of the SMA wire exposed to air at notch affects notch closure in epoxy resin plates.
