FM in Luxembourg - a challenge in the sphere of two European cultures

At the border of the francophone and germanophone linguistic area and in central European situation, it was always a challenge for Luxembourg to be linking between these cultures. The location of different European institutions and international financial centers are like a catalysts for these processes. Former one of the leading steel producers of the world, today the economic performance is done by the tertiary sector. Above European average, the growth rates are reflected in the development of the real estate market, which shows special dynamic under the limited number of building sites and the constantly requirements. Regarding this background newly created University of Luxembourg develops the idea for the knowledge range "Facility management" linking between the two linguistic areas. Since 2005 an appropriate study course is offered, a first research project concerns the comparability from real estates projects life cycles in the environment of cultural and legislative differences.
