Interaction in Workplace Networks - Grounded theory building in facilities management research

Qualitative research into facilities management practices and environments has increased remarkably during the last few years. The Grounded Theory Method is gaining importance as a method of theory building in management research. This article describes how a grounded theory was used as a methodological tool in the analysis of complex business environments of facilities management during three research phases. The empirical data collection is based on interviews and case studies in which the data was afterwards analysed and coded to produce a theory of interaction management in workplace networks. This paper provides new insights into the qualitative research methods used in FM research, as well as a theory for interaction management.
