A high-quality working environment represents an important resource for an organization aiming at productivity. Pleasant surroundings have an impact on employee efficiency. In the competition for the best employees on an increasingly tightening market, a healthy and functional working environment is an asset. Office work has changed dramatically recently. Improved mobile information technologies have enabled office workers to do their duties outside the office. New working practices such as satellite offices, hot-desking and desk-sharing are considered as everyday practices in many countries. These have set new requirements for workspace planning. There are also new kinds of possibilities for optimizing the use of workspace. Taking into account commuting times, business trips, meetings, teleworking and other out of office activities, it is obvious that 20% - 30% of the workstations remain without any use daily. Various studies have shown that by reorganizing the working practices it is possible to reduce space up to 30%. These kinds of changes can have far-reaching impacts on the strategies of office working companies and whole real estate industry.
