was carried out o For the explanation of snow cover formation and spatial distribution on the north-eastern macro-slope of Chornohora, the highest mountain range of Ukrainian Carpathians, the methodology of physical-geographical analysis was applied. The temporal pattern in distribution of the snow cover in its dependence on elevation and the landscape pattern in the upper Prut river catchment was found. In our investigation we used data collected during our field measurements of the snow cover along the profile from 928 m a.s.l. up to 1749 m a.s.l. as well as data from Pozhyzhevska weather station of Hydro-meteorological Service of Ukraine (1450 m a.s.l.) and Chornohora Geographical Research Station of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (998 m a.s.l.).
