A brief summary of the recent advances on (hyper)polarizability studies of binary II-V and III- IV semiconductor clusters is provided. Correlations between size, bonding, structure, shape and dipole (hyper)polarizabilities are revisited and discussed. Also, new hyperpolarizability results are presented which demonstrate the cluster shape dependence of second hyperpolarizability. Prolate cluster assemblies are expected to exhibit large hyperpolarizabilities, which increase exponentially with the systematic cluster growth along the one direction of the cluster.
