Calibration of force measuring devices according to ISO 376 requires several hours, owing to the requirement to perform numerous preloading cycles. In view of these circumstances, an abbreviated loading pattern was proposed for shortening the time required for a calibration operation. Experiments were performed in order to compare the results of calibration by the ordinary loading pattern and those by the abbreviated calibration. Slight differences in output of the force measuring devices were observed; the differences were small enough in relation to the uncertainty of the calibrated values that they did not affect classifications of the force measuring devices.
