The paper studied performances of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) modified with 15wt.% Cu (II) chelate of bissalicylaldehyde-ethylenediamine being a kind of schiff base copper complex which has anti-bacterium and anti-tumor activity for a possible use as an artificial hip joint material having a combinative function of therapeutic effect with its excellent tribological characteristics and a higher wear resistance to inhibit wearing debris disease of patients using artificial joints.
