Effective environmental measures including less waste fluid, resource saving, energy conservation and environmentally friendly workplace, in addition to highly efficient and accurate operation, have remained a critical issue in cutting processes. As one of the measures, MQL(Minimum Quantity Lubrication) which supplies workpiece interface a minute quantity of cutting fluids in the form of a fine oil mist has been put to practical use and contributed a great deal to reducing the lubricant use to about 1/20 of its original quantity.[1] This paper deals with studies to find an effective cutting fluid applied to OoW(Oil on Water), focusing on a combination of a nonionic rust inhibitor and ester oils.
