Cu-BMGs have been considered as the promising structural materials because of their high strength and low price. It is important to develop Cu-based BMGs with high glass-forming ability (GFA). Considering that very high GFA is obtained in Cu-Zr-Al [1] and Cu-Zr-Ag [2] systems, it is expected that addition of Al and Ag elements to Cu_(50)Zr_(50) alloy can develop Cu-based BMGs with higher GFA. In this work, the effect of addition of Al and Ag on the GFA and mechanical property of Cu_(50)Zr_(50) alloy was systemically investigated. Combining with previous work on the plasticity or brittleness of the Cu-based BMGs, the effect of the alloying elements on mechanical properties of the Cu-based BMGs was discussed based on the role of the atomic binding force.
